Lima, Peru, April 15, 2024. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced that Matilde Bordón is the new IFC Country Manager for Perú, Ecuador and Bolivia.
Born in Argentina, Bordón has 15 years of experience in the field of development, both in support of the public sector and in the promotion of the private sector. Her career within the World Bank Group began in 2001 with projects aimed at the public sector in Andean and Central American countries, and, starting in 2004, in activities aimed at the development of the private sector and advice on investment climate issues for countries in Africa and Asia.
Bordón worked in Brazil for IFC and on matters related to the generation of investment policies in South Asia. Within the framework of a World Bank external service program, she was in charge of the design and direction of the investment promotion agency of the Province of Mendoza, Argentina. In 2015, she assumed the position of Resident Representative of the World Bank in Uruguay. Bordón had been working since July 2019 as Resident Representative of the World Bank in Paraguay.
Matilde Bordón, new IFC Country Manager for Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia, stated: "Private sector participation is essential to promote economic growth and reduce development gaps in Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. "I deeply appreciate this opportunity to promote the three pillars of IFC's strategy for the region in these three countries: inclusion, sustainability and productivity."
Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Bordón worked as a business analyst and advisor in companies in Argentina and the United States, specifically in the redesign of organizational structures and formulation of long-term growth strategies. Bordón has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis on international business from Johns Hopkins University (United States). Bordón completed her undergraduate studies at the School of Business and Economics of the National University of Cuyo (Argentina), where she graduated with honors.
