Future Cities - Creating Tomorrow's Urban World. October 19, 2011

More than half of humanity now lives in cities, and every month there are five million new city dwellers. A number of powerful forces are shaping this new phase of urbanization – escalating population growth, the rise of China and India, new connected technologies and pressures on both our resources and the environment as a whole.

Future Cities is a major international conference, where innovative new approaches to designing, managing and financing sustainable living environments are explored.

The event featured leading authorities in urban planning, construction, transport, energy, architecture and sustainability, during two days of discussion and debate led by Ludwig Siegele, Online Business and Finance Editor, The Economist.

Lars Thunell gave the keynote address on Day Two of the event.  He also participated on the panel "The Green House Effect: creative urban responses to climate, energy and environmental challenges."
