In an age of rapid digital disruption, universities that lag in adopting technology risk falling behind in the competitive landscape, struggling to attract and retain students who increasingly expect digital-first learning experiences, and widening the digital divide. As a result, the need for digital transformation in tertiary education has become increasingly urgent.

Higher education leaders, faculty and students are yearning for solutions that are not just technological, but human-centered, designed to meet the evolving needs of all learners and educators.

The Solution: Digital for Tertiary Education Program (D4TEP)

IFC’s D4TEP helps universities to navigate this transformation successfully by helping them plan, implement, and finance digital transformation strategies. A digital transformation strategy helps higher education institutions identify their most pressing needs and prioritize investments in technology and infrastructure, ultimately resulting in several benefits, including improvements in student success, operational efficiency, staff and faculty digital skills development, and, ultimately, institution competitiveness.

Aligned with IFC’s commitment to innovation, D4TEP also opens pathways for potential IFC financing in higher education.

Operational Efficiency

Streamline administrative processes, reduce manual tasks, and optimize resource management, boosting overall institutional productivity.

Faculty and Staff Skills Development

Identify digital and AI skills gaps among faculty and staff to design training programs and recruitment strategies.

Institution Competitiveness

Strengthen data-driven decision-making capabilities and adapt programs and teaching methods to more effectively address the changing needs of students and other stakeholders.

Student Success

Identify students at risk and develop specific strategies to reduce dropout rates and improve student success to graduation.
