Rising heat is causing societal problems. Heat waves are already causing 300,000 annual deaths and diseases will likely spread due to increased temperatures. Healthcare facilities increasingly need to work harder to keep their premises cool and to transport medicine safely.
IFC addresses the need for sustainable cooling in healthcare and life sciences industries through a systems-wide approach. This includes providers of products and services, such as cooling-as-a-service, or med tech innovation for cooling products. We also work on cooling spaces for hospitals, clinics, and pharma labs, and for cold chains, we focus on transportation of vaccines and other temperature-sensitive medicines.
IFC’s work in sustainable cooling is part of our larger initiative to accelerate the transition for the healthcare industry. It includes a comprehensive advisory and investment set of services anchored in our global experience and supported by IFC’s proprietary tools.
