IFC Appoints Manuela Adl as Senior Country Manager for the Southern Cone

Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 11, 2023—The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced the appointment of Manuela Adl as Senior Country Manager, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In my new capacity, I look forward to deepening relationships with our long-term partners while forging new ones to mobilize private capital in the region, thus driving a sustainable and inclusive growth trajectory", said Adl, the newly appointed Senior Country Manager for the Southern Cone.

Manuela, a U.S. national, joined IFC in 2015 as Senior Manager with the Financial Institutions Group (FIG). She managed the coordination of FIG's global and regional activities, a variety of strategic Departmental and Operational Vice Presidentals Units projects in investment and advisory services, and oversaw the FIG Business Operations Support Unit middle office activities.

Previously, Manuela worked at the World Bank Group's Loan Department as a Manager, overseeing the Loan Department's activities in South Asia, East Asia Pacific and Latin and Central America, from 2011. This included managing of Regional Centers in Beijing, Brasilia, Chennai and Manila. She supervised and led teams of senior financial and professional staff responsible for negotiation and implementation of development loans and funding support arrangements with ministries of finance and other government officials, country units and task teams in 65 countries.

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Manuela was the Chief Operating Officer for the US operations of Westpac Banking Corporation, one of Australia's major banks. She worked in London, Sydney and New York, leading Westpac's implementation of its institutional banking client-focused business and strategic projects including the establishment of its European subsidiary, broker-dealer and private equity businesses in the Northern Hemisphere.

Manuela holds a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of London and an EMBA in Finance from the New York University's Leonard Stern School of Business. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

Her new role took effect on July 1.
