Download: Full Report | Executive Summary
As one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, Viet Nam is transitioning toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy while pursuing its net zero and climate adaptation ambitions.
Viet Nam's green transition requires the full participation of its workforce to successfully navigate climate risks and capitalize on emerging opportunities. However, significant gender gaps persist across key sectors driving this transition, limiting access to critical talent pools and undermining the potential for inclusive, sustainable growth that leverages women's economic contributions.
The Green Edge: Women’s Employment and Leadership for Sustainable Business in Viet Nam examines three sectors: solar energy, plastics recycling and rice production – chosen for their influence on low-carbon growth and investment potential. The first-of-its-kind report identifies practical interventions to unlock women's economic potential while strengthening business performance in the green economy.
By implementing these strategies, companies can access broader talent pools, enhance innovation and decision-making, and contribute to Viet Nam's climate goals while creating more equitable opportunities.
The report is part of IFC’s broader efforts, in partnership with the Australian government, to support private sector-led climate solutions that drive job creation for women and men, improve people’s livelihoods and climate resilience, and are aligned with national development goals.
