In Mexico, the lack of access to childcare remains a significant barrier to women's full participation in the labor market. The private sector can play a pivotal role in recognizing, reducing, and redistributing unpaid care work through family-friendly policies. This publication by IFC, in collaboration with Fundación FEMSA, showcases good practices from five companies in Mexico that have implemented initiatives supporting families and early childhood development. These include breastfeeding support at Viva; company-provided daycare at Gentera; flexible work policies at FEMSA Servicios; and family-focused events at Coca-Cola FEMSA. While not exhaustive, these examples illustrate how businesses can take meaningful steps to support caregivers in the workplace.

Beyond social impact, these initiatives also bring business benefits by improving employee retention, engagement, and productivity. Though many of the policies highlighted focus on women and children, the report emphasizes the importance of promoting shared caregiving responsibilities between men and women to foster cultural change and advance workplace equity.
