IFC partnered with L’Association des Industries d’Haïti (ADIH) to better understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in the export-oriented garment sector in Haiti. A joint study of 33 firms from the sector, that represent 87 percent of ADIH’s membership and employ around 55,000 formal workers, provides key insights to help public and private decision makers navigate the crisis, and signals opportunities for the sector. It demonstrates with evidence the potential of Haitian firms to shift to the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other apparel products, which can save, in the short term, their companies, thousands of jobs and help meet the growing global demand for those products.
