This publication has been prepared as part of IFC’s overall crisis-response program, with funding from the Oesterreichische Entwicklungsbank (OeEB), the Development Bank of Austria.
The content of the handbook is based on empirical academic research and on the authors’ own practical experiences. This handbook presents crisis response from the perspective of boards and non-executive directors, with a focus on companies in emerging markets.
It seeks to serve as a tool to help emerging market companies and their boards improve their crisis preparedness, recover from the recent financial turmoil, and emerge as more sustainable and competitive businesses. It is IFC’s hope that these improvements will also make companies more resilient to the impacts of any future crisis.
