IFC proudly hosted the first food fortification forum: Fortifying the Future: Challenges & Opportunities in Food Fortification on March 7th, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The forum centered around the theme of working towards a healthier, sustainable, and inclusive world – brought together key stakeholders including representatives from the World Bank Group, WHO, WFP, UNICEF, GAIN, OECD, Global Child Nutrition Foundation, Viet Nam National Institute of Nutrition, and private sector representatives who addressed the existing challenges of micronutrient deficiencies and malnutrition and identified opportunities to scale food fortification.
Sponsored by the Japanese Government and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the forum delved into critical issues such as malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies, shared lessons learned for global food fortification initiatives, discussed the important role of women in promoting food fortification, and explored practical solutions for fortification. IFC reaffirmed its commitment to providing support in these efforts and reinforced the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in overcoming challenges, seizing opportunities, and advancing this agenda.
