On May 21, 2024, IFC hosted the 11th International Food Safety Forum in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in collaboration with donors and sponsors, including GAFSP, FIAS, and Bureau Veritas. Centered on the theme of “Reducing Waste, Enhancing Nutrition: A Food Safety Imperative,” the forum provided a platform for key stakeholders to share best practices and innovative solutions for a sustainable future in the food industry. The insightful discussions highlighted key priorities, collaborative efforts, and best practices, in food safety strategies and standards, waste reduction, fortifying nutrition, digitalization, and the role of women in the food industry.
The host country in the Central Asia region, Uzbekistan, has partnered with IFC to enhance its legal and regulatory frameworks, aiming to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) and drive economic growth. This collaboration, initiated through a new cooperation agreement signed in September 2023, aiming to improve the country's investment climate, and facilitate increased FDI inflows.
