Piyush Panigrahi

Piyush Panigrahi is an Economist in the Private Markets Department at World Bank Group, based in Washington, DC. His research focuses on production networks, firm-to-firm trade, and the role of digital infrastructure in shaping productivity and welfare in emerging markets. He has worked extensively with large-scale administrative and firm-level datasets from countries such as Türkiye and India, combining empirical analysis with quantitative trade and general equilibrium models.

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Piyush was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a Visiting Fellow at the Cowles Foundation at Yale University.  He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California - Berkeley and an MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics. His work has been recognized with the CESifo Distinguished Affiliate Award in Global Economy.
