TICAD9 サイドイベント「高成長ベンチャー企業と、プライベートエクイティ市場の現在～アフリカの持続可能な成長への投資～」

アフリカのテクノロジー系スタートアップは過去10年間で急成長し、年間資金調達社数は2015～2022年に8倍となりました。一方、マクロ経済環境の不確実性の高まりなどにより、調達社数は2022年以降に急減し、2024年にはほぼ半減しています。資金不足を解消し、高い成長可能性を持つスタートアップの成長を支援することは、広範な社会的インパクトをもたらしつつ、アフリカ全体の経済成長を牽引すると同時に、投資家にとっても魅力的な投資機会ともなります。

国際金融公社（IFC）はこのたび、TICAD9のサイドイベントとして「高成長ベンチャー企業とプライベートエクイティ市場の現在 ～アフリカの持続可能な成長への投資～」と題したパネルディスカッションを開催いたします。日本の開発金融機関や国際開発金融機関、ベンチャーキャピタルなどをパネリストに迎え、アフリカにおけるベンチャーやスタートアップの資金調達や投資に関する最新動向、各機関のPE投資の取り組みや戦略などに焦点を当て、アフリカのスタートアップ・エコシステムの未来像をともに探っていきます。

TICAD9 Side Event: Scalable Ventures, Real Markets: Investing in Africa’s Sustainable Growth

Tech startups have proliferated across Africa over the past decade, with the number of firms receiving funding each year increasing eightfold between 2015 and 2022. However, amid the increasingly volatile macroeconomic environment and other challenges, this figure has declined sharply, falling by nearly half by 2024. Bridging the funding gap and supporting the growth of these startups with high potentials will drive economic growth and also offer investors with attractive investment opportunities while generating significant social impact across Africa.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is hosting a panel discussion, “Scalable Ventures, Real Markets: Investing in Africa’s Sustainable Growth,” as a side event of TICAD9. This session will bring together a venture capital firm, Japanese public-sector partners, and a multilateral development bank to discuss the latest trends in fundraising and investment for ventures and startups in Africa, and share each organization’s private equity investment programs and strategies, to explore the future of Africa’s startup ecosystem.
