TICAD9 公式イベント「アフリカの農業セクターにおける持続可能なバリュー・チェーンの構築及びサプライ・チェーン・ファイナンスの強化」 

この度、国際金融公社(IFC)は、TICAD9公式イベントとして「アフリカの農業セクターにおける持続可能なバリュー・チェーンの構築及びサプライ・チェーン・ファイナンスの強化」と題したセミナー及びネットワーキング・イベントを8月19日(火)午前9時30分より開催いたします。

アフリカ産業の根幹を成す農業は、労働人口の52％の雇用を創出し、サブサハラ地域のGDPの17％以上を占めています。農業はアフリカの経済発展のみならず、推定1億4,000万人が深刻な食料不安に直面している問題を解決する上でも重要な役割を果たします。今後もアフリカの人口増加が見込まれる中、バリューチェーンの強化や生産性の向上、小規模農家の支援などを通じたアフリカの農業セクターの強化は喫緊の課題となっています。本イベントでは、日本、アフリカの官民セクターから複数のゲストをお招きし、アフリカの農業セクターにおける主要な課題についての理解を深めるとともに、アフリカにおける持続可能で強靭なアグリ・バリューチェーンの構築やサプライチェーン・ファイナンスの強化を通じた金融アクセス改善への取り組み、さらに日本企業の投資機会についてパネル・ディスカッションを行う予定です。

TICAD9 Official Thematic Event: Accelerating Africa’s Economic Growth through Sustainable Agri-Value Chains and Supply Chain Finance

IFC would like to invite you to join us for our TICAD9 thematic event entitled " Africa’s Economic Growth through Sustainable Agri-Value Chains and Supply Chain Finance”, on Tuesday, August 19 from 9:30am to 12:00pm (Japan time).  

The agriculture sector is the backbone of Africa’s economy, employing about 52% of the labor force and accounting for at least 17% of GDP in the sub-Saharan Africa region.  Agriculture plays a pivotal role not only for accelerating economic growth but for addressing food insecurity in Africa where an estimated 140 million people face acute food insecurity.  As Africa’s population continues to grow, it is increasingly important to enhance the continent’s agricultural sector by reinforcing its value chains, improving productivity and efficiency, and empowering small farmers.

Featuring several guests from Japanese and African public and private sectors, the first panel session aims to deepen the understanding of the significant challenges facing Africa’s agricultural sector and discuss how development financial institutions can address these challenges through a multifaceted approach, including enhancing food production and agricultural value chains to help unlock the potential of Africa’s agricultural sector.  The second panel session will focus on improving access to finance in Africa to support agribusiness and other sectors through supply chain finance.
