İstanbul, Türkiye, September 30, 2026—The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is investing in Doğuş Çay ve Gıda Maddeleri Üretim Pazarlama İthalat İhracat A.Ş. (Doğuş Çay) to create jobs, strengthen agricultural supply chains, and support farmers across Türkiye. The investment will help Doğuş Çay, a leading food and beverage producer, expand manufacturing capacity, deepen its engagement with local farmers, and enhance the competitiveness of Türkiye’s agribusiness sector.
IFC’s investment, a long-term loan of €100 million with a maturity of eight years, is expected to support the creation of approximately 3,400 direct and indirect jobs in food processing, logistics and farming. The loan that includes a grace period of two years, will support Doğuş Çay’s multi-year investment program. The financing will fund the expansion of chips and tomato paste production capacity, investments in seed cultivation and storage infrastructure, and improvements to distribution and logistics operations across Türkiye.
Doğuş Çay works with more than 50,000 farmers across the country and sources key agricultural products, including potatoes, tea, sugar beet, corn, and tomatoes. Through contract farming arrangements, farmers gain market access, technical support, quality input, and more predictable income opportunities. The investment is expected to strengthen these linkages and help meet the company’s growing sourcing needs as production expands.
“Reflecting international confidence in our company’s growth potential and investment plans, this financing will support, primarily, our capacity expansion and efficiency investments at our potato chip production facilities, as well as our tomato paste production infrastructure, distribution capabilities and innovation initiatives,” said Bilge Kaan Karakan, Board Member at Doğuş Çay. “We plan to commence operations at our potato chip production facility in Hungary in 2027, further extending our growth journey into Europe. As a strong agricultural company with 41 years of experience, we aim to further strengthen our presence in international markets through our strong brands across different categories and our innovative products.”
“Türkiye’s food and beverage sector is a major source of jobs and income for thousands of farmers and businesses across the country,” said Wagner Albuquerque de Almeida, IFC’s Regional Industry Director for Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services in the Middle East and Central Asia. “This investment will help strengthen connections between farmers, manufacturers, and markets while supporting the long-term growth and competitiveness of Türkiye’s agribusiness sector.”
IFC’s financing for Doğuş Çay supports the World Bank Group’s broader priorities in Türkiye, which include private sector growth, job creation, and more competitive agricultural value chains.
