IFC Announces Sustainability-Linked Loan of up to US$75 Million for Banco Finandina in Colombia

July 3, 2025

Bogotá, July 3, 2025 – The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced an investment of up to US$75 million in Banco Finandina S.A. through a sustainability-linked loan (SLL).

The operation aims to expand access to financing for hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a special focus on women-led businesses.

According to Banco Finandina’s General Manager, Orlando Forero Gómez, “These resources are a vote of confidence from institutions that believe in the Bank’s successful and consistent sustainability strategy, supporting projects that allow us to contribute to the country’s development.”

“This investment represents a decisive step toward a greener and more inclusive Colombia. By supporting Finandina, we are not only promoting sustainable mobility, but also expanding economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs and small businesses that drive local development,” said Elizabeth Ann Marcano, IFC’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The project aligns with the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework for Colombia (FY2024–2027), as well as with the Group’s Climate Action Plan 2021–2025 and Gender Strategy 2024–2030. It will also contribute to the goals of the Paris Agreement by promoting climate finance and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
