This note explores how multilateral development banks (MDBs) are supporting job creation through circular economy approaches. It highlights the scale of existing circular employment, the barriers that limit job quality and inclusion, and the practical ways MDBs are using research, advisory services, technical assistance, and investment to help create more—and better—jobs. With project examples from across institutions, the note shows how circular economy interventions can support more resilient businesses, stronger value chains, and more inclusive growth.
This is the first note in a series focusing on the circular economy prepared by a group of MDBs.
