Sarvesh Suri

Regional Vice President, Asia and the Pacific

Sarvesh Suri is IFC’s Regional Vice President for Asia and the Pacific. He provides strategic leadership in overseeing all investment and advisory operations throughout the region, addressing complex development challenges and creating jobs. In his capacity, Mr. Suri leads the regional team as part of one World Bank Group in mobilizing the private sector across financial, manufacturing, agribusiness, and infrastructure industries to deliver meaningful impact for people and businesses.

An Indian national, Mr. Suri brings 25 years of global investment and development expertise to the job as well as a strong track record of fostering public-private collaborations. Prior to his appointment, he served as IFC’s Regional Industry Director for Infrastructure and Natural Resources, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. There he played an instrumental role in the launch of Mission 300 to connect 300 million people with access to clean, affordable and reliable electricity in Africa by 2030.

Mr. Suri also previously served as the Director for Climate, Energy, Extractives, Capital, and Financial Markets Operations at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). During his six years at MIGA, he managed global risk mitigation products for cross-border investments into developing countries, directing some 250 projects with US$34 billion in guarantees. 

Prior to joining MIGA, Mr. Suri worked for 15 years at IFC in various leadership roles, including as Senior Regional Manager overseeing business operations in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Papua New Guinea, based in Jakarta. His selection as Regional Vice President marks his return to Asia and the Pacific.

Mr. Suri holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University.
