This report is an update of the Varu Island site assessment within the “Boosting Tourism: Environmental and Social Diagnostic Study for the Tourism Sector in the Western Province of Solomon Islands” published in 2021. This landscape-level assessment identifies environmental and social (E&S) and natural hazard risks associated with potential tourism development. It provides investors and the Solomon Islands Government ministries with critical E&S and climate-related information and recommendations on reducing potential risks and impacts to realize sustainable tourism development opportunities.
