With healthcare systems facing rising chronic disease rates and heavy reliance on imported drugs, the need for local pharmaceutical solutions has never been more urgent.
For nearly 40 years, IFC has partnered with Hikma Pharmaceuticals, a global manufacturer founded in Jordan, to build a stronger, more resilient healthcare ecosystem in the region.
Hikma now operates 30 manufacturing facilities across 11 countries, delivering essential medicines faster. The company’s generic drugs are priced up to 45% lower than brand-name equivalents, boosting access and driving industry-wide price competition.
Together, IFC and Hikma have helped shape regulatory policy, support the growth of skilled local jobs (including 37% women in the Middle East and North Africa workforce), and advance the region’s capacity for research, development, and supply chain resilience.
From launching Algeria’s first locally available MS treatment to ramping up API production in Jordan, Hikma is delivering solutions where they’re needed most.
