Western Balkans Green Growth Alliance Launch Event: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future

On 29th of January 2025, the Western Balkans Green Growth Alliance was officially launched in a high-profile in-person event, marking a pivotal moment for the green transition in the region. 

Organized by the IFC in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance of Austria and Hungary, the event gathered 109 key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to shape the future of sustainable industries in the Western Balkans.

Key topics of the event included innovative approaches to decarbonizing industry, financial services of IFC to facilitate sustainable transformation, and the leadership needed to drive long-term environmental and economic resilience. 

The event featured distinguished speakers, including H.E. Christian Ebner, Austrian Ambassador to Serbia, alongside influential private-sector leaders such as Branimir Muidža (HeidelbergCement), Dejana Backović (CFO, KappaStar Group), Miroslav Gligorijević (General Manager, TITAN Serbia), Edlira Muka (CEO, Balfin Group) and Vedrana Jelušić Kašić (Member of BoD & Head of Corporates, PBZ (Intesa) Croatia) among many others. 

The event served as a dynamic platform for high-impact discussions, expert panels, and hands-on workshops. These workshops provided a space for companies to address concrete challenges in their decarbonization journey, while also exploring different strategies and best practices for accelerating the green transition.
