Global Institute of Directors Network Meeting and Consultation

IFC and the Corporate Governance Association of Turkey (TKYD), with the support of the Arguden Governance Academy, organized a global conference of institutes of directors (IoD) to take stock of their work and accomplishments, share experiences, and create a forum for discussion of challenges and opportunities.
The Global IoD Network Meeting and Consultation also allowed IFC to showcase the work it does with these institutes and similar organizations and the relevant tools and good practice guidance that IFC has developed, along with updates and revisions that are needed going forward.
The meeting covered three main areas:
IoD success and sustainability, including key topics such as building and sustaining membership, governance and organization, financial viability, right sizing and scaling up, and the role of director certification.
IoD opportunities and IFC and the World Bank tools, including recent knowledge products and IoD experiences with scorecards, corporate secretaries, media, board practices, small and medium enterprises, and state-owned enterprises.
International cooperation among IoDs, including both regional networks and cooperation with IFC and the World Bank.
