Sustainable Investment in Turkey 2010"Sustainable Investments in Turkey 2010" provides a snapshot of the Turkish market, and identifies a number of structural barriers which are hindering the development of sustainable investment (SI) in Turkey, including low saving rates and the crowding effect of domestic borrowing. Although an upsurge of interest in the notion of sustainability within Turkey's corporate sector is apparent, the authors note that this interest may remain ceremonial with limited impact on corporate behavior unless investment managers reciprocate this emerging interest. The report draws attention to the demand for global or cluster-based SI instruments covering key emerging markets and the need for innovation in the analysis of environmental, social, and governmental (ESG) issues. At the same time, it warns about the risks of adverse selection.
