Meeting the energy needs for development and addressing climate change are two of today's defining global issues. In addressing both, renewable energy and energy efficiency offer tangible solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and concomitantly providing energy needed to usher billions of people onto the path of economic development and towards a better life.
This report summarizes the progress that has been made in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects at the World Bank Group during fiscal year 2008 (July 2007 - June 2008) and presents case studies and analyses from several noteworthy projects.
