Day 1: Tuesday 17th May 2016, 09:00 to 17:30

Title: Implementing ESG in the PE Investment Cycle

Lead Trainers: Dr Samantha Lacey, Manager, Environmental and Social, CDC Group and Thomas Shipley, Business Integrity and Compliance, CDC Group

Summary: The day will be highly interactive and will involve working in groups to progress case study investments through a full PE lifecycle from screening to exit, highlighting lessons and advice for how to do this effectively. This will be most useful for investment officers and those relatively new to implementing ESG in a PE investment cycle.

Days 2&3, four half day sessions to choose from:

We will endeavor to ensure that if you choose two sessions, these are both on the same day to reduce inconvenience.

Morning half day sessions will run from 09.00 to 12.30

Afternoon half day sessions will run from 13.30 to 17.00

These will be designed to be relevant to both fund employees and portfolio companies in that each session will focus on how to identify and manage relevant risks, and the business case for doing so. All sessions will be highly practical and applied, including case studies from relevant markets.

Masterclass 1: Environmental and Social Management Systems at Portfolio Companies, half day

Summary: This session will guide participants in how to approach establishing or enhancing an appropriate environmental and social management system within a company.

Masterclass 2: Occupational Health and Safety, half day

Date: Wed & Thurs 18th & 19th May 2016

Lead Trainer: Clive Rockingham, consultant with over 25 years of professional international safety experience.

Summary: Participants will learn how to identify OHS hazards and manage risks, including how to tackle root causes, practical advice regarding how to improve performance and addressing H&S in different parts of an organization including management, operations and contractors.

Masterclass 3: Labor Practices, half day

Date: Wed & Thurs 18th & 19th May 2016

Lead Trainer: Philippa Spence, ERM.

Summary: This session will enable participants to see how key labor issues apply to different types of business activity, how to identify and manage them and the potential business benefits of doing so.  

Masterclass 4: Business Integrity, half day

Date: Wed & Thurs 18th & 19th May 2016

Lead Trainer: Thomas Shipley, Executive, Business Integrity and Compliance, CDC Group.

Summary: Using practical examples of past problems, participants will learn how to identify and manage business integrity issues including bribery and corruption, whistle blowing and money laundering.
