Leveraging Board Assessment for Sustained Performance

Private Sector Opinion 33: Board assessment is a governance practice established to ensure that a board effectively performs its duties. Over the past decade, knowledge about board assessment—and what it can and cannot do for boards and the companies they serve—has increased considerably. This paper sets forth some key lessons learned about board assessment, primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom, and explores how that learning may apply to board assessment opportunities around the world.
