Women and Ride-hailing in Sri Lanka

The ride-hailing industry is playing an increasingly important part in Sri Lanka’s transportation ecosystem. This research explores whether the industry could play an important role in closing the gender gap in mobility and economic participation in Sri Lanka. The study identifies risks and opportunities for women in ride-hailing; determines how ride-hailing could close economic and social gaps between men and women; and explores the business case for the private sector to better understand and serve women both as drivers and riders.
