Changing Lives: Private Sector Solutions for Helping Small Farmers

March 13, 2023

Changing Lives, the flagship publication of the Private Sector Window of the Global Agriculture and Security Program (GAFSP), highlights the ways that GAFSP’s blended finance investments and advisory support unlocks opportunity for smallholder farmers in some of the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. This edition features impact stories about how GAFSP is boosting resilience in the face of climate change and rising fuel prices and improving the lives and livelihoods of rural communities.

The 2023 edition includes impact stories about IFC and GAFSP-supported projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Honduras, Rwanda, and others, where training and investment support are helping strengthen farmer cooperatives, streamline local value chains and boost food security. This edition also includes interviews with the GAFSP Donor Committee Chair James Catto, Director of International Development Policy at the United States Department of the Treasury, as well as IFC operations officer Nathan Were, who reflects on impacts of climate change, soaring food prices, and rising fuel and fertilzer costs in his native Uganda.
