With more than 500 speakers and 10,000 visitors from 60 countries, the EURO FINANCE WEEK is Europe’s largest meeting point for the finance and insurance industry. In approximately 40 specialized conferences with 100 panel discussions, the annual event provides a comprehensive overview of topics that are currently moving the industry. Numerous evening events, receptions, and award ceremonies complement the week’s program and offer additional networking opportunities.
The 14th Euro Finance Week took place from November 14-18, 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany, and was held under the auspices of Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, Federal Minister for Finance and Volker Bouffier, Minister President of the State of Hessen.
The integration and regulation of European finance and insurance markets have become a major focus of the opening conference of the week. Conferences specialized in retail banking, risk management, transaction banking, and business process management mirror the industry’s business spectrum. Furthermore, global trade and business relations especially with countries in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa have become an integral part of the EURO FINANCE WEEK. The European Real Estate Forum addresses the central topics of the real estate industry and its interdependency with capital markets.
IFC Vice President of Global Industries Rashad Kaldany gave the opening address at the 3rd IFC-EFW Conference: Innovations in Emerging Markets Finance. His speech was titled "Maximizing Development Impact through Innovative Financing in Emerging Markets". Lee Meddin, IFC Director of Structured and Securitized Products moderated the panel "Deepening Emerging Financial Markets - New Products and New Investors" in which Vikram Widge, IFC Head of Climate Financial Products, participated. Georgina Baker, IFC Director of Short Term Finance, moderated the panel "The Impact of Basel III - Risk Sharing in Emerging Markets" in which Sabrina Borlini, IFC Senior Trade Officer, also participated. IFC's Head of Communications and Public Affairs Oliver Griffith moderated the panel "Asian Financial Markets" at the Global Finance Conference.
