Sustainable infrastructure is critical for addressing development challenges in emerging markets.
IFC offers long-term financing and industry-leading expertise to develop infrastructure projects that provide essential services—including electricity, telecommunications, transportation, water and sanitation—in partnership with the private sector.
As part of the World Bank Group, we also work with governments and development partners to create a business environment that attracts private capital to infrastructure sectors.

Addressing Water Sector’s Challenges to Tackle Climate Change
Water and climate are interlinked. While climate change causes water scarcity and contamination, water use, storage, distribution and the lack of wastewater treatment contribute 10% of GHG global emissions, further intensifying climate change. This video describes how IFC is working with Sabesp, one of the largest water and sanitation companies in the world, to address the water sector’s challenges to tackle climate change. IFC is partnering with Sabesp through the Utilities for Climate (U4C) initiative.
