Date: July 7-11, 2017
Venue: Chiang Mai, Thailand
A series of meetings were held to hear the views of border-based organizations concerned with hydropower development in Myanmar's Kachin, Shan and Kayah States. Participants discussed energy and natural resource research and policy development relevant to hydropower and the peace process. Aimed to provide an avenue for border-based organizations to participate and provide feedback on the SEA process, the meetings were an opportunity to clarify objectives of the SEA. Participants offered comments and revisions on the SEA, specifically on non-state research and policies in regards to hydropower development in ethnic minority areas.
