Dates: January 6 – February 7, 2016
Venue: Nam Ou River Basin, Lao PDR
IFC and Lao PDR’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Water Resources are conducting field research to prepare a profile of the Nam Ou River Basin to better understand the river’s environmental, social and economic characteristics.
A team of 25 field surveyors are collecting data from 1,500 households in 75 riverine villages on water related livelihoods of the people living within a five kilometer corridor of the Nam Ou River Basins in Phongsaly, Oudomxay and Luang Prabang provinces. Divided into five zones, the basins’ field locations were chosen based on geological and ecological characteristics.
IFC will provide participants with on-the-job training on how to collect primary data for a river basin profile.
