IFC Investments
IFC expanded its long-time partnership with Genomma Lab, a pharmaceutical leader based in Mexico, extending a $60 million, multicurrency loan to help finance expansion of the company’s production of over-the-counter medicines. The expansion is expected to boost availability of affordable medications in Latin America and the Caribbean.
To reduce their dependence on pharmaceutical global supply chains, Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean are seeking to produce 60 percent of all essential medicines needed by their populations within their own regions by 2042. Achieving such a goal will require the active involvement of the private sector, and IFC announced it will support the effort by contributing to the transatlantic alliance for health and pharmaceutical equity. The partnership is focusing on boosting production of oncological drugs and preventive and therapeutic vaccines, and on improving women’s health outcomes.

Knight Therapeutics, a pan-American pharmaceutical company, will increase access to advanced treatments for patients with dementia caused by Alzheimer's and Parkinson's in Latin America through a $38.5 million loan from IFC.
IFC announced plans to finance the expansion of two Peshawar hospitals in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has fewer than one doctor per 1,000 people, well below the national average. The expansion is set to improve access to high-quality, affordable services, especially for low-income patients.
