Tackling Childcare:The Business Case for Employer-Supported Childcare in Vietnam

Employers in Vietnam, especially those in high-growth sectors like export-oriented manufacturing and banking, are looking for ways to attract and retain workers as the labor market tightens. This study explores how forward-looking employers tackle the challenge by investing in childcare support for their employees.

The report, which includes in-depth case studies on six large manufacturing employers in Vietnam, documents the significant business and social returns from an investment in childcare support, including reduced absenteeism and turnover and enhanced relationships with customers and local government. It draws on lessons from businesses in banking and energy sectors as well, making a strong business case for family-friendly policies and practices in the workplace and laying out a range of options for Vietnamese businesses wanting to take action
