Tropical Cyclone Yasa (TC Yasa) crossed Fiji on December 17-19, 2020. It was one of the strongest cyclones recorded in the Pacific and the second Category 5 cyclone to hit Fiji since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.
While TC Yasa was devastating for many Fijians, costing the lives of some, the Fijian Government also understands the heavy toll it exacted on businesses. Between December 2020 and January 2021, the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport and the International Finance Corporation partnered to conduct a survey of business owners and managers. The objective of the survey was to identify the impact of TC Yasa on Fijian businesses, and to determine what additional resources and support businesses might require during the recovery period.
