This three-minute-plus video, produced by Stephan Bachenheimer last year, tells the story of the industry-leading environmental and safety standards for the nearly 9,000 people who were working on-site of the world’s largest solar power plant, Egypt’s Benban. See this story by Caitríona Palmer for more information. The second phase of the estimated $2.1 billion Benban project was completed in late 2019. The plant now provides nearly 1.5 GW to Egypt’s national grid and has brought down the price of solar energy at a time when the Egyptian government is phasing out electricity subsidies.
