Next week, participants from around the world will gather virtually at the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings to discuss how to achieve a post-pandemic recovery. Public events will focus on ending the pandemic by speeding up production and equitable distribution of vaccines, achieving inclusive economic growth, supporting economies through trade, and scaling up a green recovery to address climate change. In this issue of IFC Insights, we picked four events that address the private sector’s role in these issues.
Also in this newsletter, Bennett Freeman, a former senior U.S. State Department official, discusses his experience with a campaign to eliminate forced labor in the cotton supply chain in Central Asia and makes the case for how unlikely allies can form powerful coalitions to address complex issues. And IFC Communications Officer Tamar Barbakadze explores how arts and cultural institutions in Georgia have adapted business models allowing them to continue creating, teaching, and performing throughout the pandemic. Bravo to their ingenuity!
