Corporate Secretaries Toolkit Workshop

The corporate secretaries toolkit training workshop was held from 7-10 May 2013 at the Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa office in Johannesburg. The workshop was attended by 21 delegates from 17 countries.

The workshop is part of the development and roll-out of the corporate secretaries training supplement to the Board Leadership Training Program of the IFC Global Corporate Governance Forum. The supplement is being developed in collaboration with Corporate Secretaries International Association.

The main purpose of the event was to test the draft training curricula following an extensive peer review process, and gather participants' feedback.  The four-day pilot training provided trainers with materials/model documents, case studies and activities to develop corporate secretary skills. The program was a great platform for the participants to provide feedback and suggestions to finalize the training curricula.

The training also encouraged the participants to share their own experiences and hone their methods for using adult learning techniques. They developed the knowledge base and skills needed to lead corporate secretary education programs that reflect international best practice adapted to regional trends and country-specific needs.

The final version of the Corporate Secretaries training supplement is expected in October 2013.
