IPAM's Assessment of Alternative Landscape Scenarios
Using geospatial imaging and data gathered by IPAM, it is possible to model different scenarios by which the landscape would change in the future. This is important to identify the urgency of biodiversity conservation measures, and also to look at possible effects from different measures.
IPAM modeled four different scenarios; business as usual, the current forest code, the socio-economic ecological zoning plan, and the Registry of Social-environmental Responsibility. Each of these represents the landscape level effects of different policy paths that are available.
