Video: Fuelling Growth for SMEs

Supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises is an essential focus of IFC’s work, especially in Africa where these businesses often struggle to obtain the financing and other support they need to succeed.

IFC’s Africa, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (AMSME) Finance Program and its partner banks across Africa are helping thousands of businesses surmount the hurdles that are holding them back.

Established in 2006, The AMSME Finance Program has invested $125 million in its 16 partner banks, which have roughly 40,500 outstanding loans to smaller businesses worth more than $1.2 billion.

These loans are helping businesses from Mozambique to Kenya and Cameroon take on bigger contracts, hire more employees, and increase their profits as they contribute to sustained economic growth.
