IFC's resource efficiency engagements cover the essential products that are used in applications which generate most of the CO2 emissions: power sector (41%), transport (23%), industry (20%) and buildings (10%).
In resource efficient technology, climate change mitigation and innovation are cross-cutting themes which include the manufacturing and distribution of:
machinery and equipment related to energy and resource efficiency, food security, and infrastructure development, and
vehicles for the mobility needs of the bottom of the pyramid and for commercial transportation.
IFC has prioritized investments in energy efficient machinery that can help reduce poverty by expanding access to alternative and affordable sources of electricity, encourage infrastructure expansion and mitigate the impacts of climate change which is particularly important for transport and construction industries having a significant level of carbon emissions.
