B Loan Management

The B Loan Management division was established in 1998 as a dedicated resource to provide high quality and consistent service, and ensure that IFC's contractual obligations under the participation agreements are fulfilled. The division manages over $5 billion in B loans held by nearly 200 financial institutions. The division:

  • Informs participants of important project developments and takes into account their views in on-going loan management.
  • Manages the consultation or consent process for all amendment or waiver requests in accordance with the Participation Agreement
  • Negotiates restructuring terms with participants
  • Ensures smooth and efficient funding and payment operations
  • Acts on requests from participants for assignment of B Loans to other institutions
  • Monitors and distributes all financial and project progress reports to participants
The B Loan Management division works closely with IFC's industry, environmental, social, and insurance specialists, and IFC's legal and investment departments. These resources are brought to bear to ensure that participants are kept well informed about each project company's performance as well as general economic developments that may have an impact on specific investments.
