Our Activities

The following are SECO- IFC Tanzania Leasing Program main activities:

Legislative Review
SECO- IFC Tanzania Leasing Program is involved in legislative review. We drafted a leasing law and proposed certain amendments on taxes. Both the draft leasing law and tax amendments have been submitted to the government of Tanzania with an expectation for appropriate actions to be taken within a reasonable period of time.

Capacity Building
The program provides customized and general training sessions for Lessors, Lessees, government officials, small and medium enterprises, and other stakeholders.

Business Development
SECO- IFC Tanzania Leasing Program is promoting linkages between small and medium enterprises, equipment manufacturers, and financial institutions.

Public Education
Information campaigns for the business community and other stakeholders through brochures magazine/newspaper articles and reports as well as television, Radio, web site, and electronic messaging are part of what we do.

Micro Leasing
The program team is working on a strategy, which will enable it to work closely with Micro Financial Institutions to develop micro leasing for micro enterprise.

Tanzania Leasing Association
The program is playing a key role in the establishment of the national leasing association (TALA). We have convened preliminary meetings and drafted the association’s constitution and other formation documents. After review and comments by prospective founding members, the association will be formally registered. TALA will act as a lobby group for industry stakeholders. The program will continue to provide active support, including secretariat space.

The program team continues to monitor the leasing market in the country and works closely with all stakeholders.
