December 25. 2008. “One-stop-shop” will simplify the registration process of entrepreneurs
IFC, the member of the WB together with the Tax Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan organized the discussion of the results of Tajik delegation travel on learning the experience of Azerbaijan at the implementation of “One-stop-shop” (OSS) principle when state registration of enterprises and entrepreneurs. It consisted of the representatives of Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Tax Committee, business associations and international organizations. August 18. 2008. IFC Executive Vice President and CEO Highlights Priorities for Tajikistan
Lars Thunell, Executive Vice President and CEO of IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, said that IFC will continue to support private sector growth in Tajikistan through its advisory work in microfinance, corporate governance, mortgage lending, leasing, and small business development. Concluding an official visit to the country on August 16, Thunell also emphasized IFC’s aim to expand its investment portfolio, seeking new opportunities in such areas as hydropower and agribusiness. July 16. 2008. IFC Launches Third Business Environment Survey for Small Businesses in Tajikistan
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, begins its third survey of the business environment in Tajikistan in July. This follows up on surveys in 2003 and 2006, covering small and medium enterprises’ experiences with registration, permits, licensing, inspections, taxation, finance, and trade. The national survey of the entire country will cover a sample size of about 1,500, including individual entrepreneurs and representatives from small and medium enterprises and dehkan farms. June 13. 2008. IFC Helps Tajikistan Launch Simplified Taxation System for Small Businesses
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has helped Tajikistan's government launch a simplified taxation system that will ease the process of calculating and paying taxes for small business owners. Beginning in July 2008, the new lump-sum taxation system will combine income, social, and retail trade taxes into one fixed payment. To read press release [PDF]...
April 16. 2008. IFC presented an analysis of the current permit system in Tajikistan
The IFC Business Enabling Environment – SME Policy Project in Tajikistan presented the results of the analysis of the current permit system to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as to representatives of state bodies, international organizations, entrepreneurs and mass media. Summary: The National Conference was the next important step in streamlining fire inspections procedures and reducing administrative burden for SMEs. Its main goal was to educate entrepreneurs about effective fire prevention measures and changes to fire inspection procedures resulting from the Inspections Law adopted by the government of Tajikistan in summer 2006.
