September 17, 2007. IFC partners with the Central Department of Fire Service under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tajikistan to hold a fire prevention and legal awareness presentation for Tajik entrepreneurs
IFC and the State Fire Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Tajikistan held a joint presentation of Fire safety posters and inspections check lists at one of the largest market’s of Dushanbe to raise entrepreneur’s awareness.The objective of the presentation was to show fire safety rules to entrepreneurs as well as inform them of the new inspections rules passed as part of the new Law of Tajikistan “On inspection of economic entities.” To read press release [PDF]...

August 10, 2007. International Finance Corporation and OSCE partner to train SME’s on the new Inspections
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to conduct joint training events on the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On inspections of economic entities in Tajikistan” for entrepreneurs of the country. The trainings will familiarize entrepreneurs with the provisions of the new legislation, focusing on the rights and responsibilities of SMEs and inspectors. To read press release [PDF]...

August 6, 2007. The Republican Centre of State Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision of the Health Ministry of Tajikistan adopts new inspection rules developed in partnership with IFC
The Republican Centre of State Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision of the Health Ministry of Tajikistan (SES) last month adopted new inspections rules for Tajikistan’s inspection officials. SES was the first of 22 inspecting agencies of Tajikistan to adopt the new rules, which were drafted in accordance with The Law of RT on Inspections of Economic Entities in Tajikistan. Developed in partnership with IFC, the new rules were included in an Inspections Rules Manual and presented to SES by IFC at a formal ceremony in Dushanbe on August 6. To read press release [PDF]...

July 26, 2007. International Finance Corporation helps raise awareness about Tajikistan’s Inspection Law.
The project has launched the first of a series of public service announcements on Tajik national television. Created with the support of Tajikistan’s State Investment and Property Management Committee, the announcements will help raise entrepreneurs’ awareness about “On Inspection of Economic Entities,” a new law of the Republic of Tajikistan. The first of four announcements—thirty-second social advertisements that show entrepreneurs facing inspection under the new legislation—was broadcast on Channel 1 on July 19 and will air four times a day in premium time slots. June 22, 2007. State Tax Committee of Tajikistan, International Finance Corporation and International Monetary Fund host conference on tax administration. The State Tax Committee of Tajikistan, IFC and the International Monetary Fund hosted a conference on “Tax Administration Development during the Independence Period of the Republic of Tajikistan.” The purpose of the conference was to increase entrepreneurs’ awareness about the current (2005) tax code and discuss further improvements needed in tax administration. The State Tax Committee of Tajikistan expressed its readiness to consider suggestions from entrepreneurs and other interested parties in this regard.

June 20, 2007. Business Enabling Environment – Small and Medium Enterprise Policy Project presents survey results at the international workshop. The project presented the results of the 2006 SME survey at the two-day international workshop "Improving Investment Climate in Tajikistan: From Strategy to Implementation," hosted by the World Bank. Organized jointly with the Government of Tajikistan and the ECA region, the workshop was part of WBI's multi-year investment climate capacity building program in Tajikistan. To read more...

May 24, 2007. Business Enabling Environment – Small and Medium Enterprise Policy Project presents survey results to Tajik government and international community.
IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank, has released the results of a comprehensive study of Tajikistan’s business environment, revealing two years of strong progress and identifying areas where additional reforms are needed to achieve and sustain a thriving SME sector in the country. IFC officially presented its 2006 SME Survey report to the government of Tajikistan and to international organizations working in business development sphere. A strong SME sector is critical to the economic progress as the country continues its transition to a market economy.

April 17, 2007. IFC and MSDSP partner to conduct Inspections Law training for SMEs. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP), a project of the Aga Khan Foundation, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct joint training events on the Law of Inspections for entrepreneurs of Tajikistan. The trainings will familiarize entrepreneurs with the provisions of the new legislation, focusing on the rights and responsibilities of SMEs and inspectors.

March 19, 2007. IFC Helps Streamline Tax Procedures for Entrepreneurs in Tajikistan. IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, signed a joint action plan with the Tajik Tax Committee to help improve procedures for inspections of businesses in Tajikistan. The project, led by IFC and financed by SECO, Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, will focus on streamlining procedures in accordance with the law governing inspections that the Tajik government adopted last summer. March 15, 2007. IFC Partners with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health to Improve Sanitary Supervision Procedures. IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, and Tajikistan’s National Center of State Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision of the Ministry of Health have signed a joint action plan to promote cooperation between the two organizations. The objective is to work together to improve sanitary supervision procedures in Tajikistan according to the Inspections Law adopted by the government in the summer of 2006.
