IFC, World Bank and the Government of Tajikistan Discuss Future Reform Efforts to Improve the Country’s Business Environment
Dushanbe, December, 2007—IFC, the World Bank, and the Tajik State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, held a joint presentation and discussion with key decision makers, donor community and civil society of the recently released World Bank Group Report “Doing Business 2008: Comparing Regulations in 178 Economies”. The report, updated annually, ranks 178 economies on the ease of doing business based on 10 indicators of business regulation. The rankings track indicators of the time and cost to meet government requirements in business startup, operation, trade, taxation, and closure. Since 2003, Doing Business has inspired or informed over 113 reforms around the world. Tajikistan ranks 153 in the overall global standing on the ease of doing business in this year’s report.
