Tracking IFC's Contribution to Development

Monitoring and evaluation of our projects, policies, and procedures is a critical part of what IFC does. An institution-wide effort, led by the Development Effectiveness Unit, has been launched to improve the way we track the full sustainability and development impact of our investments as a means to report on our overall contribution to development.

Lessons from Experience

IFC's Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) publishes an Annual Report that reviews the adequacy, coverage, and quality of evaluation processes within IFC. It examines how effectively IFC is using performance measurement and evaluation findings to enhance its results and increase its accountability.

Millennium Development Goals

The increased commitment of the international community to poverty reduction and sustainable development was evidenced by the adoption of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000 by the 189 United Nations member states. The World Bank Group is playing a lead role in efforts to meet the eight goals, which aim to achieve measurable improvements in people's lives by 2015.
