What We Do

A team of investment officers within the Cleaner Technologies Program provides catalytic funding ranging from US$200,000 to US$2,000,000 for innovative business initiatives that produce goods and services with environmental benefits. We also provide innovative businesses equity, quasi equity, debt, and other kinds of flexible funding to finance working capital requirement or capital investment.

Project appraisals are rigorous, leveraging IFC's in-house expertise in a wide range of sectors and geographies, as well as environmental and social disciplines. When financing a project the Cleaner Technologies Program will only take a minority position and seeks to leverage its investment with co-financing from project sponsors and other sources.
