How We Work

IFC's work in biodiversity focuses on market transformation for commodities whose production or harvesting bare known consequences to the environment. We look to make changes at system level, chain of custody networks, participate in commodity roundtables, define market based instruments, help to initiate and develop multi-stakeholder efforts.

Project Examples

Indonesia: Komodo Collaborative Management Initiative (Komodo Project)
The IFC-financed Komodo project in Indonesia represents an innovative model whereby the Ministry of Forestry has approved a tourism concession to a joint venture company.


Philippines: Asian Conservation Company (ACC)
The project is conserving significant coastal and marine biodiversity in several regions of the Philippines through a partnership between ACC and two local non-governmental organizations.
