AccountabilityTwo independent units work to ensure IFC's accountability to stakeholders, while a third unit monitors internal controls and governance. The Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman was established in 1999 – as an innovation in accountability – to help IFC address the concerns of affected individuals and communities and to enhance the social and environmental outcomes of projects. The Independent Evaluation Group in IFC is responsible for the post-evaluation function within the institution. It provides accountability for achievement of IFC's objectives, identifies lessons from past experience to improve IFC's operational performance, and reinforces corporate objectives and values among staff. The Internal Auditing Department provides objective assurance and advice to help the World Bank Group enhance risk management, control, and governance, as well as improve accountability for results. |
